What Terbinafine does is quite simple: it stops the growth of fungi on the nails, specifically the dermatophytes.
Terbinafine tablets are recommended to be taken once per day during 6 weeks to treat fingernails, and once per day during 12 weeks to treat toenails. This medication can only be purchased through medical prescription, and you must follow exactly the indications of your doctor, because it can have certain side effects such as:
- Diarrhea
- Upset stomach
- Rash
- Hives
- Taste changes
- Stomach pain
It can also cause more serious side effects, though uncommon such as:
- Chronic upset stomach
- Lack of appetite
- Extreme tiredness
- Vomiting/nausea

Terbinafine or Lamisil treatment can be very expensive costing up to a thousand dollars per month, and must be followed daily or you risk growing that nail fungus again.
